MARGAO: The Konkan Railway police registered two cases of chain snatching and theft of three mobiles and cash in the Jamnagar Express train. Following a complaint the police arrested one Magh Singh, 23, a native of Meghalaya and recovered three stolen mobile phone handsets and Rs 4630 in cash from him. The police are yet to recover the gold chain valued at Rs 1.75 lakh. Both the thefts occurred in Jamnagar express train when it had reached at the Karmali railway station. According to information given by the Konkan Railway police, a family from Kerala was travelling in Jamnagar express and all family members were sleeping during night. An unknown person entered into the compartment while, the train had halted at the Karmali railway station and snatched the chain and fled. In another case reported in the same train, the police arrested Magh Singh and recovered three mobile phone handsets and cash of Rs 4650 from him. One of the passengers from Haryana later identified his mobile phone while, the ownership of two other mobile phones and cash was not yet known. The Konkan Railway police have registered both the cases under section 379 of IPC and are conducting further investigations.
