PUNE: Passengers visiting the Pune railway station are happy with the cleanliness there.
On Thursday, Pune station of Central Railway was declared 9th in the 10 Cleanest 'A1' category stations in Indian Railways.
When Team Sakal Times visited the Pune railway station and interacted with the passengers, many stated that they were happy with the cleanliness at the station.
A passenger, Rohit Sharma said, "Earlier, Pune railway station used to be very dirty. Over the past few years, a lot of improvement can be seen in cleanliness. Now Pune station has been ranked as the 9th cleanest station in the 'A1' category and it feels very good but still, a lot can be done to bring it in the top five."
Another passenger Rehma Singh too shared similar views.
"The cleanliness of platforms 1 to 4 has always been very good. But platform number six remains neglected. In recent times the cleanliness of all the platforms has gone up which is a good thing and it would be great if this cleanliness is maintained," she added.
Sources at Pune railway station said that in recent times a lot of cleanliness drives have been carried out at the station under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager BK Dadabhoy. They added that strict action is being taken against those found littering station premises. They stated that passengers must also see to it that they do not litter the station and for this garbage bins have been provided at every corner of the station.
