Pune: In a circular issued by the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Government of Maharashtra, students who have not reported to institutes during Centralised Admission Process (CAP) and not taken admission on allotted seats to various technical institutes will get a refund of seat acceptance charges.

The circular issued also stated that this step was taken as there was lack of awareness among students regarding the admission procedure. Also such refund will not be applicable from the next academic year.

It is stated in the circular that candidates who have reported to Admission Reporting Centre (ARC) and paid seat acceptance charges but not reported to the allocated institute and not confirmed admission by paying balance fees for various professional technical courses, are requesting refund of seat acceptance charges during CAP 2016-2017 process. The admission regulating authority has considered the request to refund the amount after deducting processing charges. The circular states that it is only a one-time measure.

The refund will be made after complete reconciliation of the accounts, finalisation of method of refund and may take time until end of this financial year, that is, March 2017, noted the circular.

Speaking about the refund, Rajendra Gaikwad, Assistant Director (Technical) said that the candidates should understand that the refund will come after deducting processing charges.

“The whole process needs time and the candidates might have to wait. Also those who have applied for refund after the cut off date might not be able to avail the refund,” said Gaikwad.
