Goa’s Menezes Braganca house, in Chandor, built in 1576, contains artefacts from various countries. Either, gifted or purchased, some of these items are as old as 300 years and are still in pristine condition.

HOOKED ON BOOKS

With over 5,000 books in 4 languages, the mansion houses the largest private library in Goa and contains books, collected by different generations who have lived there.

FLOORED BY COOL TILES

The English tiles on the floor of the mansion were shipped from London, and are around 400-years-old. Interestingly, no matter what time of the day it is, the tiles are always cool on a summer day.

CHINA FROM CHINA

This big Chinese vase is made of porcelain and dates back to the Ming Dynasty.

BEHIND THE FURNITURE

Most of the furniture in the house has been crafted by carpenters who worked for the family, while the wood used is from the family plantation.

ROYAL GIFT

This clock was a gift from the king of Portugal to Francisco Xavier de Braganza, and tells the time, date, month and even moon phases.

Check out this unusual door. The unique hand-blown glass panels have been imported all the way from Venice.
