ALPHONSO

You may be familiar with the big juicy 'Alphonso' mango, but did you know it’s a common surname among many Goans. The Nicolou Alfonso variety is widely found in the Tiswadi and Salcete regions of the State.

COLACO

Another well-known surname in Goa is 'Colaco', and just like the name, this mango variety with a yellow skin and a greenish tinge, shares the same local fame.

XAVIER

Just like the popular first name 'Xavier' in Goa, the Xavier mango is a sweet and juicy variety found all over the State. The variety, however, has a short shelf life and is best enjoyed fresh.

MOSSURAD OR MONSERRATE

You’ll find two varieties of Monserrate in Goa. 'Monserrate de Bardez' is cultivated in North Goa, while 'Monserrate de Salcete', is grown in the South. Both are popular for making jam and sweet pickles.
