MUSEUM BASICS
The Dharohar Museum, also known as the National Museum of Customs and GST, opened in 2022 and is situated on the main road of Panjim city, near the Captain of Ports premises.

IN THE BEGINNING
Constructed around the year 1600, this historic building originally served as a Customs House during the Portuguese era.

COLOUR STORY
Earlier, this two-storey building was painted yellow and white, and served as the headquarters of the Indian Customs and Central Excise Department. In 2001, it was painted indigo blue.

The museum gives insights into the role played by Department of Indirect Taxes and Customs in nation-building.

The museum houses various galleries that exhibit ancient manuscripts, coins, weights, measures, and other interesting items.

The museum showcases a collection of confiscated wildlife items, as well as articles made of steel, wood, and stone.

The exhibits also highlight the role of Indian Customs in revenue collection, provide insights into trade and taxation in India, and showcase the evolution of the country's taxation system.
