A group of citizens in Panjim, who are frustrated by the ongoing Smart City works causing constant dust pollution, have approached the High Court of Bombay at Goa seeking respite.

PLEASE MONITOR

The citizens have petitioned the court to direct the authorities concerned to set up real-time monitoring stations for measuring the quality of air in different areas of Panjim.

HEALTH CONCERN

In the public interest litigation (PIL), the citizens brought up the issue of dust pollution and emphasised the difficult situation faced by individuals with respiratory issues and other health problems.

CALL FOR TRAFFIC PLAN

They also addressed the problem of vehicular congestion caused by the Smart City project and demanded a traffic plan until the project is finished.

The petitioners have also demanded a roadmap that outlines the deadlines for the completion of the Smart City projects being carried out.

DANGER TO LIVES

The citizens complained that the road digging works were an impediment for many to access to hospitals during emergencies, thus endangering lives.
