UNIQUELY GOAN

The feast of St John the Baptist, known as Sao Joao locally, is celebrated on June 24 every year. On this day, Goans jump into wells and ponds — a tradition unique to Goa.

FESTIVE FUN

Apart from jumping into wells, revellers wear headgear made of local flowers, called kopels, sing festive songs, and enjoy traditional food and drinks such as feni.
