CREATIVITY AT ITS BEST

Don't we all love to dress up? One element of Goa's Carnival includes fancy dress, in which the old and young participate, donning creative costumes, many of which have a message to spread.

THE KING'S CALL

The vibrant procession of King Momo, who reads out the decree urging people to 'eat, drink and make merry!' officially kicks off Goa's Carnival festivities.

CELEBRATION OF DIVERSITY

A highlight of the festival that draws crowds to it is the Carnival parade, where floats depicting thought-provoking themes, culture and traditions of Goa hold centre stage.

COLOUR CODED

Accompanying the float parade are energetic dancers and as they groove to live music, you will find their attire, accessories and smiles so infectious, you would want to join in the fun.

JOLLY GOOD TIME

All in all, at Goa's Carnival, you can expect to have a good time -- from the parade to the traditional folk plays (still prevalent in villages) to the famed red and black dance, which is an annual affair in Panjim.
