15 futsal teams consisting of YMCA members from across the country are fighting for the winner's crown in the first All-India Inter YMCA Futsal Championship.

The tournament, which has a packed schedule, is being held from August 27 to 29, 2023 on the Don Bosco futsal turf in Panjim.

In the first league game on Monday, August 28, YMCA Changanacherry (Kerala) completely outclassed YMCA Tirupattur (Tamil Nadu).

The 15 teams are divided into four groups. Winners of each league group will play the semifinals.

On Monday, YMCA Changanacherry boys were in control till the end and scoring at ease against their feeble opponent from Tamil Nadu.

THE ORIGIN

The origin of futsal dates back to 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani, a teacher from Montevideo, Uruguay, created a version of indoor football for YMCAs.
