Goa HC judges walk the talk, take stock of Panjim dust pollution

JUDGES DAY OUT

In response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), Justices Mahesh Sonak and Valmiki Menezes from the High Court conducted an inspection of the Smart City works in Panjim that have faced significant criticism due to concerns regarding dust pollution.

FOR A BETTER PANJIM

Media personnel and affected citizens, including prominent businessman Manoj Caculo (right), accompanied the judges during the inspection.

NOT TOO HAPPY

It is highly uncommon for judges to personally evaluate public utility projects on-site. However, the PILs, filed by affected citizens, were too strong for the judges to ignore.

At several places during the inspection, the judges expressed their disappointment regarding the works.

WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN

Smart City CEO, Sanjith Rodrigues, accompanied the judges and explained to them the nature of the works and their dates of completion.

CLEAN UP YOUR ACT

During the inspection, the judges covered a distance of around two kilometres to assess the projects being undertaken.

SO NEAR, YET SO FAR

Although the residents and businesses were satisfied with the inspection, the CEO of IPSCDL, Sanjith Rodrigues, appeared unhappy with the media grilling on the works.
