LOST & FOUND

Especially in times of dire need, Goans pray, 'Whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus,' trusting that St Anthony, cradling Jesus in his arms, will intercede on their behalf.

SANT ANTON

It’s common to name children 'Anthony' in Goa, especially those born in June (the month of his feast), or after prayers answered through his intercession.

FLORAL CONNECT

The saint is commonly depicted holding lilies. Interestingly, a certain white flower, that blooms during the monsoons in Goa, is locally called, 'St Anthony flower'.

UNIQUE TO SIOLIM

Unlike the usual depictions of St Anthony, the one in St Anthony Church, Siolim, North Goa, is unique, and features a striking and unusual detail — a snake dangling from a rope.
