Goa's Lenten walk: Where every step is rooted in faith

A WALK TO REMEMBER

Around 18,000 people participated in Goa's annual Lenten 'Walking Pilgrimage' (Bhavartachi Yatra) from different parts of the state.

PENANCE AND HOPE

The theme for this year's pilgrimage was 'Let us journey together on the path of penance and be proclaimers of hope.'

FIRST SUNDAY

The pilgrimage is held on the first Sunday in Lent and aims to help the faithful begin the penitential season of Lent with penance and sacrifice.

UNITED IN PENANCE

His eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, priests, religious and devotees participated in the 10-km walking pilgrimage.

KEEP THE FAITH

People set off on their penitential pilgrimage, some barefoot, as early as 12 midnight. The walk was followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a eucharistic celebration.

STAY HUMBLE

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

As the pilgrimage concluded, everyone enjoyed the warmth of fellowship over piping hot black tea and sweet buns.
