Renowned music educator Sonia Reis and her daughter, Maria de Graca Reis (a piano teacher and pharmacist) took part in a grand Piano Concert at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, recently.
The concert brought together an enthusiastic audience of classical music lovers, parents and piano enthusiasts, all gathered to witness a diverse lineup of performances.
Performers of all ages from across Goa showcased both the accessibility and depth of Western classical music.
The repertoire performed ranged from timeless classical pieces to familiar folk and modern melodies.
The event was also attended by prominent local figures including doctors, lawyers and engineers from around Margao, reflecting the cultural value of such events in the region.
Anaaya Gonsalves’ expressive interpretation of Valse Sentimentale by Tchaikovsky; a lively duet of Tico Tico by Dr Ana Soraya Monteiro and Paula Reis; and Paula Reis’ solo of The Blue Danube by Johann Strauss II were some of the performances.
For Sonia and Maria de Graca Reis, the concert marked a meaningful return to tradition, reviving a piano recital that was an annual event before the COVID-19 pandemic brought it to a pause.
