Fish 'O' Mania: Hooked till the end for a fresh catch

Around 34 anglers, both elders and children, took time out to participate in a bait fishing contest organised by the St Inez Parish Youth Movement, Panjim, at the serene Mandovi riverside rock-filled area near Campal Indoor Stadium, recently.

The contest began at 4 pm even as rain clouds hovered above, but the enthusiastic anglers, who were ready to brave the elements, stretched out their fishing rods over the water for the prized catch. The anglers competed in Biggest Catch, Fastest Catch and Highest Catch categories.

And, finally, after a long wait, Steffan D'Souza hooked the biggest catch, which fetched him the first place in the category.

Miguel D'Costa caught the highest number of fish and won the second place.

Steffan was happy to receive his prize at the hands of parish priest Fr Adolfo Alvares.

The third place winner in the Fastest Catch category, Francisco Fernandes, receives his prize at the hands of Fr Leslie Noronha.

The core committee guided by Antonio De Souza, Aaron Lobo, Vivek Cruz, Roystan Rebello and Zico Carvalho was instrumental in organising the competition. The members worked tirelessly to ensure everyone stayed hooked till the end.
