THUMBS UP

WHAT'S IN IT FOR TOURISTS?

For visitors, it means reliable taxi services, transparent pricing, and a wider range of transport options — from taxis to bikes to rickshaws — making travel across Goa easier than ever.

GOOD FOR LOCALS, TOO

Many Goans, who rely on taxis or public transport, can now travel safely, without worrying about drunk drivers or inflated fares.

MORE POWER TO DRIVERS

Despite some opposition to the guidelines, the new rules benefit drivers — ensuring they receive 100% of the fare, pay no app commissions, and gain access to health insurance and other benefits.

FAIR FARES NOW

Just as in other parts of India, riders and travellers in Goa can expect standard base fares, no hidden fees or surge pricing, and a clear fare breakdown before booking. Violators could face penalties of up to Rs 5 lakh.

BOOST FOR WOMEN

Women drivers with a PSV (Public Service Vehicle) badge are eligible for a Rs 1 lakh subsidy for electric cabs, and Rs 20,000 for e-bikes or auto-rickshaws, with 50% paid upfront, and the rest after completing 500 rides.

SAFETY FIRST

Only licensed aggregators are permitted to operate, and must maintain records for three years, as well as submit annual reports to the Transport Department to ensure safety and prevent fraud.
