It was a ladies day out in Saligao on Women’s Day

SALUTE TO WOMANHOOD

Last Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the theme of the popular weekly ‘Made In Saligao’ community market at the Saligao Institute, Saligao, was International Women’s Day.

PRETTY IN PINK

The décor reflected the theme, befitting a celebration of women, and was creatively fashioned by the market vendors.

PIECE OF CAKE

Senior women vendors from the market cut a cake created specially for the occasion.

KITCHEN BOUNTY

Young agri graduate and woman entrepreneur, who runs Vasco-based ‘Fruits of Hard Work’, Lisa Pinheiro, shared an informative talk on kitchen gardening.

HIGH SPIRITS

Emcee Nazareth kept visitors engaged and in high spirits all through the evening, and especially during the games sessions.

SOUND OF MUSIC

The Singing Foxes of Saligao – young singers and musicians from Saligao village – beautifully sang a number of hit Konkani classics by Goan musicians of yesteryear, H Britton, C Alvares and Alfred Rose.

FUN & GAMES

The event also saw a lucky draw, exclusively for lady guests, while an exciting game of Tambola was enjoyed by everyone.

REGULAR FIXTURES

That apart, the community market featured a live BBQ and stalls selling a range of Goan delicacies – from snacks to baked dishes – as well as handicraft items, fresh farm produce and plants, among other things.
