Kalki Koechlin puts the spotlight on these 'monologues' in Goa

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Museum of Goa (MOG), Pilerne, organised a reading of The Spotlight Monologues, by Tony Award-winning playwright, performer and activist, Eve Ensler, on October 27, 2023.

SEEING STARS

The star-studded cast of the event consisted of Kalki Koechlin, Antara Bhide, Arundhati Chattopadhyaya, Kimmy Katkar, Rajyashree Dutt and Sundeep Sal.

REACHING OUT

The event was held in collaboration with Outreach Goa, an NGO, which was started in Goa around 2 decades ago, and has been working with children from the poorer sections of Goa.

THE MEDIUM, THE MESSAGE

In order to lend a voice to the goals of Goa Outreach, the women decided to stage the Spotlight Monologues in the shared belief that ‘Education and prevention is better than a cure.’

CAUSE FOR CONCERN

The Spotlight Monologues is a work that highlights the continued abuse against women worldwide.

BOLLYWOOD BIGWIGS

The reading was directed by Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, and produced by Dipa De Motwane. Dipa De Motwane is a well-known name in Bollywood, and is associated with several hits including Leela (2002), The Web of the Witch (2002), The Forest (2009), Udaan (2010), Masaan (2015) and NH 10 (2015).

FOR A GOOD CAUSE

All the proceeds of the event go directly to the NGO, Goa Outreach.
