Adorned with ornate designs and elaborate columns, even before you step inside, the facades of Goan churches welcomes you. Statues of the church patron are often placed within the facade as well.

ECHOING RINGS
Towering above the churches, you will notice centuries-old bell housed in the belfry. These are rung to inform about a liturgical service or even announce a death.

MAIN ALTAR
Adorned with candles and flowers, the main altar is an ornate centrepiece from where the priest sermonises during the eucharistic service. The decorative reredos behind it features paintings and carvings in religious themes.

LET THERE BE LIGHT
Many Goan churches feature large windows that are placed high above, almost touching the ceiling, a design principle followed in the olden days to let natural light pour in.

PULPITS
Lastly, apart from the murals, biblical paintings, and decorative figurines, these old pulpits, once used by priests to preach, add a touch of elegance to Goa's churches.
