The name Chorla originated from the word chor, which means thief. In the past, travellers and traders faced threats from thieves who controlled the route.

The Chorla Ghat region is home to a rich variety of reptilian diversity. At the sharp turn of Virdi in Maharashtra lies an area locally known as Nagniche Khale, once the habitat of the king cobra.

BEAUTY IN BLOOMS

One of the most spectacular sights to behold in Chorla Ghat is the rare bloom of the Karvi flowers (Strobilanthes Callosa) which bloom once every seven years, painting the entire landscape in shades of pink and purple.
