Light drizzle and tradition as novenas begin at Rosary Church, Navelim

LET THE NOVENAS BEGIN

While the village of Navelim celebrates the feast of its patroness, Our Lady of Rosary, on November 15 this year, the novenas began in the wee hours of Monday, Nov 6, 2023 with a traditional procession.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

The Our Lady of Rosary Church was beautifully illuminated on the occasion of the novenas and upcoming feast.

PROCESSION ROUTE

The annual procession starts from Mount Carmel Chapel, in Telaulim, and ends at Our Lady of Rosary Church in Navelim.

BIG & SMALL

Holding pretty paper luminaries, villagers -- young and old -- dressed in festive finery, joined the procession along the way.

MORNING PRAYER

The procession began at 3.30 am, and the faithful recited the holy rosary as they walked in an orderly manner towards the church.

IN THE CHURCH

When the procession reached the Our Lady of Rosary Church at Navelim, the statue of Our Lady was placed on the church altar. This was followed by the first novena mass, which began at 5.30 am.

During the procession, it began to drizzle, but that didn't put a damper on the occasion, and the procession continued as normal.
