Catamaran ship, Thimaaveshi, built by a Goa-based Vijai Marine Shipyard for Maldives government, was flagged off today from Goa.
The ship will be used by the Maldives government for research-oriented activities.

The ship by the Rassaim-Loutolim-based firm has been built in technical association with IIT Kharagpur under World Bank project.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who flagged off the ship, said it was a proud moment for the Goan shipbuilding sector.
The ship can sail 100 nautical miles from the shore.
The flag-off ceremony was colourful with even King Momo descending on the venue flanked by musicians.
