The inauguration of the eight-lane cable stayed Zuari bridge across river Zuari will be held on December 29, 2022, at 6.30 pm.
It will be inaugurated at the hands of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.
One side of the bridge will be thrown open for vehicular traffic after the inauguration. The other side will be completed by March 2024.
The bridge was closed for public viewing on December 28 to facilitate the preparations for the inauguration.
Once inaugurated, the bridge will be India’s widest cable-stayed bridge.
The inauguration, which was to take place December 26, had to be postponed due to unavailability of Nitin Gadkari.
The total length of the bridge is 13.2 km and the elevated length is 8.20 km.
It is also the second longest cable-stayed bridge in India. Mumbai's Bandra-Worli sea link is the longest cable-stayed bridge
