IN ONE DAY
In the North Goa belt, this week, 20 Olive Ridleys laid eggs in one day on these beaches: Calangute (1), Mandrem (3), Candolim (2), Keri (1), Arambol (1), Vagator (3), Morjim (9).

JUST AWESOME
Since December 29, 2023, till date, 93 nests have been recorded, and the total number of eggs is 9,500, the highest ever so far.

THE GUARDIANS
This record number has been possible because of the cooperation of the stakeholders, including those who were deployed on 24-hour duty, to ensure the turtles had a safe passage on Goa's beaches.

SLOW & STEADY
On the intervening night of February 21 and 22, turtles laid around 1,900 eggs on North Goa's beaches.

FRIEND OF THE OCEAN
While North Goa turtle nesting has shown a healthy trend, South Goa, too, saw 1,000 eggs being laid on the Canacona coast between February 20 and 21.
