Sambar dies despite best efforts by Uste villagers in Goa to save it

SURPRISE VISITOR

Residents of Uste in Sattari, near Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary, were surprised to see a sambar that strayed into their village on Thursday evening.

HUNTED & HURT

The animal was very badly injured after being allegedly attacked by foxes, according to the forest personnel.

DOING THEIR BIT

The villagers did their best to administer first aid to the animal and also called the forest department.

BUT AT LAST...

In spite of their best efforts to revive the sambar, it breathed its last. The forest personnel took custody of the animal and brought it to the Valpoi Forest Training Centre.

TIME FOR GOODBYE

It may have been attacked by foxes, according to the post-mortem report done by the veterinarians.
