As the time for the smart city work inspection neared, smart city workers across the city were be seen making frantic efforts to comply with the guidelines and tackle the issue of dust pollution.

PUBLIC INTEREST LITIGATION

The residents of the capital city of Goa had filed a Public Interest Litigation(PIL) before the High Court regarding dust pollution caused due to the Smart City works.

UNPLANNED WORKS

The residents also highlighted that the works carried under the Smart City mission were carried out in an unplanned manner.

FOLLOWING THE PIL

In order to gain a better understanding of the issue, the division bench consisting of Justices Mahesh Sonak and Valmiki SA Menezes scheduled a visit to the site today, April 1, 2024, at 5 pm, following the PIL.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Since the inspection was around, the workers of Panaji Smart City Development Limited were seen cleaning the streets and removing debris lying around for a long time.

DEBRIS BEEN JUST THERE !

The debris and other materials, which had been causing traffic problems, were being cleared before the hearing scheduled for April 2, 2024.
