Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts, Altinho, Panjim, is currently hosting the 4^th edition of its Sunaparanta Art Initiator Lab (SAIL) exhibition, titled, ‘Buttered Bread on a Cat’s Back’, featuring the works of 10 Goa-based creative practitioners.

BETWEEN BRAIN AND FINGERTIP

The programme provides a space for critical exchange, experimentation and reflection and has resulted in works, such as this one titled, ‘Between Brain and Fingertip’ by Pritesh Naik.

SANCTUARY

‘Sanctuary’, by Venkatesh Pai, explores the paradox of preservation in a world of constant flux, and is one of the works from the 10-month mentorship programme.

WHAT I CARRY WITHIN

'What I carry Within', by artist Rutika Dessai, uses mud from a mining area of South Goa along with other organic material – hinting at Goa’s beautiful landscape which is fast vanishing.

ECHOES OF THE LAND

'Echoes of the Land', by Nehal Parker, is inspired by Goan theatre, and is an interactive installation where participants can change the landscape, challenging the idea of fixed narration.

MEDIUM AND METAPHOR

Artist Leticia Alvares’ interactive installation is a puzzle which is both a medium and a metaphor — inviting viewers to reflect on reconstruction, loss, and resilience in piecing life back together.

SHRINE TO LETTERS

‘Shrine to Letters’, by Deepa George, is a representation of hand-written letters by some noted personalities of Goa, and focuses on how social media has changed the art of letter writing.

EXHIBIT B

'Exhibit B', by Siddhi Arsekar, is an archive on beauty. This mixed-media installation explores the beauty standards imposed on women, that pressure them to look pretty.

LAST DAY

The exhibition features works across mediums, including installations, videos, drawings, object-based art, and storytelling and will be on view till July 15, 2025.
