Venita Gomes
The National Awards to Teachers were instituted in 1958 to recognize excellence and commitment of teachers, who have worked to shape young minds, and at the same time, contribute to nation-building.
The awards are given every year on September 5. It is also the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was an Indian philosopher and politician and served as the second President of India.

2022 - Maria Murena Miranda
Maria Murena Miranda is the Principal, Government High School, and has been bestowed with the prestigious National Award to Teachers this year. She is known to have upgraded rural tribal infrastructure and supported many tribal students.
