The feast of Our Lady of Fatima, Canacona style

On October 13 each year, the parishioners of Shellim (Our Lady of Fatima Chapel) and the parishioners of St Sebastian Church, Loliem, get together for a procession of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

The procession starts from the Church of St Sebastian, in Loliem, and goes all the way to Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, in Xellim.

This year, the celebrations began with the recitation of the rosary at the Church of St Sebastian, Loliem.

The procession started after that…

… and ended with mass at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, Shellim, at 4.45 pm.

Over 300 devotees took part in the procession.

The entire route, from the church to the chapel, was decorated by the parishioners and youth.

They sang hymns and recited the rosary along the way.

Upon reaching the chapel, the parish priest received the statue with due reverence, while children tossed colourful flowers.

Mass was then celebrated in the chapel.
