Devotees from all over Goa visited the church of Our lady of Mercy, in Colva, on Monday, to seek the blessings of Menino (infant) Jesus.
Devotees venerate the statue of Infant Jesus which is believed to have miraculous healing powers.
This year, the celebrations took place after a gap of nearly two years. Fama is the day before the novenas begin.
People pray to the infant Jesús to receive blessings of good health, prosperity and happiness.
Many who attend the fama make vows and seek favours by making various offerings.
The faith and devotion of the people attending the fama is seen while they stand in long queues in the scorching sun.
A large fair is put up around the church and attracts quite a number of people to Colva.
