Together again, after 13 years: Lairai 'jatra' and Milagres feast in Goa

In Goa, the feast of Milagres (in Mapusa) and jatra of Shree Devi Lairai (in Shirgao)are important occasions which are celebrated at this time of the year.

Devotees believe that Milagres Saibinn and Lairai Devi are sisters, and various customs and traditions are followed during their respective celebrations.

This year, both the feast as well as the jatra are being celebrated on April 24, and you will see devotees offering oil -- which has been sent from Shirgao Devasthan -- to Milagres Saibinn.

Similarly, mogra flowers are sent from Milagris Saibinn to Lairai.

Today, people from Mapusa will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Miracles with great pomp and fervour.

In Shirgao, the jatra will be celebrated with traditional customs, rituals and devotion.
