KUSHAWATI RIVER

The Khushawati does not figure among the longest rivers in Goa. However, it flows into the Zuari, acting as a significant tributary, and contributing to the largest river of Goa.

KUSHAWATI BRIDGE

Named after the Kushawati River, this bridge is a spot from where one can see the entire stretch of the river at a single glance. Flowing in the north-west direction, the Kushawati forms one of the sub-basins of the Zuari River.

RIVER WITH A HISTORY

It is because of this river that Chandrapur (now, Chandor) was able to transport ore. It is through this channel that commodities were exported overseas.

GUSHING WATERS

Quepem dam, built on the Kushawati river, is a picturesque spot. The best time to visit this dam is in the monsoons, when the water can be seen gushing.

KUSHAWATI IN QUEPEM

This river offers gorgeous views of the villages along it banks, such as this one, a village called Ozreguddo, where people come to wash clothes or just chill.

RIVER OF JOY IN CONDY

This river has gotten so famous that it is navigable on Google Maps. Goans from all over come to this area to beat the summer heat by the riverside.

KUSHAWATI IN KARALI

Another riverside village that has become touristy, is Karali, and you will find villagers taking a dip in the river or just chilling by the riverside.

HOLY WATERS

The Dattatreya Temple is situated on the banks of this river. So is the Saunsthan Shantadurga Temple, offering devotees a space to conduct their rituals, thus, making this river a sacred site.

FLOW ON

Heavy monsoon rains often cause the Kushawati River to overflow, flooding Paroda village and leading to school holidays in the area.
