Before the monsoon frenzy sets in and the water levels rise, it is a great time to see Goa's Curdi village, which stays submerged under water and is seen only during the summer months of April and May.

GOA'S ATLANTIS

Nicknamed the 'Atlantis of Goa', Curdi village was submerged by the creation of the Selaulim Dam in the 1980s.

RICH PAST

Nestled in the foothills of the Western Ghats and gradually submerged by progress, Curdi was an agricultural village with many inhabitants.

DISPLACED

The villagers started moving out of the village in 1971 when the construction of the Selaulim dam started.

LOST IN TIME

Curdi village is located at a distance of 32 km from Margao and 66 km from Panjim.

The village also happens to be a stargazing spot and an amazing place for astrophotography.
