Ongoing digging works in Panjim and closure of Atal Setu had their ripple effect in the form of major traffic jams on the highway and interior roads.
The traffic jams on all roads leading to Panjim frustrated office goers who had to punch in late.
Heavy traffic jams were seen at Merces junction and Porvorim and internal roads like DB Road, Bhatulem and Mala in Panjim.
It now appears, these traffic jams are here to stay until the Smart City and Atal Setu works are completed.
Commuters were seen complaining that the authorities have failed to have a good traffic management plan during the peak hours.
While the traffic kept piling up on all roads, the traffic police stood helpless.
