MARGAO: “English is the international language. It is a language of employability’’, said Tilroy Fernandes, principal of Higher Secondary School, Cuncolim after releasing the book “Helpful Conversations’’, written Shailesh Raikar, retired News-reader of All India Radio, Panaji.
The function was held in the Daivadnya Bhavan, Calconda, Margao on Wednesday. Bonfilio da Cruz, ex-director of education dept and chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Porvorim has written the overview in this book.
“Some Konknni words are taken in English vocabulary and they are considered as English words. It does not matter if these words are used by the teachers while teaching English as first language to neo-learners. It will help them to learn the vocabulary easily’’, he said while speaking on the book.
Dr Harishchandra Nagvemkar, ex-principal of MES College, Zuarinagar,
highlighted the importance of communication skills in English speaking.
The author of the book Shailesh Raikar commented on the inclusion of skills in school syllabus by the Central govt.
Navnath Khandeparkar introduced and then welcomed the invitees and the publisher Tejas Raikar proposed a vote of thanks.
