VASCO: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday held a special review meeting regarding preparedness of dreaded coronavirus at the Dabolim international airport.
Alok Saxena, Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Government of India and the Airport Authority of India (AAI) along with a team of medical officials were present for the special review meeting on coronavirus preparedness. A team from the directorate of health services, Chicalim sub-district hospital superintendent Dr Rajendra Borkar and other concerned officials were also present during the special review meeting.
During the meeting, Vishwajit Rane stressed on instructions and health guidelines to the deputed team of medical practitioners at the Dabolim airport. He also declared that as per new guidelines issued by the Government of India, any visitor coming to Goa from China by cruise vessel will not be allowed to disembark from the vessel.
Besides, reviewing preparedness, the health minister took stock of the available medical facilities including medicines, equipments and other facilities to check and scan the passengers for the suspected coronavirus.
Later, Alok Saxena along with Vishwajit Rane visited Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, sub-district hospital at Chicalim and at the Dabolim airport and reviewed preparedness of the State to deal with dreaded coronavirus scare.
The Goa government had already set up special corona isolation wards at GMC and the sub-district hospital, Chicalim to treat any suspects showing symptoms of deadly coronavirus.
