MARGAO: With the outbreak of coronavirus, simple surgical face masks and sanitizers have almost disappeared from the stores and chemists across the city. The rates too have shot up astronomically.
Sanitizers of 50 ML which were earlier available at Rs 40 are now priced at Rs 80. When GT inquired with other chemists at Margao most of them said that there was a shortage of sanitizers and face masks.
When contacted, a chemist from Salcete Pharmacy, Margao, said that they were not getting any fresh supplies despite the orders being placed.
Speaking to GT, Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network (GOACAN) coordinator Roland Martins said that first and foremost the consumer should file a complaint before the legal meteorology department and also with the local civil supplies inspector. “If you have cases of overcharging on MRP then file your complaints to legal meteorology department,” he stated.
