Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday approved the proposal for the continuance of Girish Chodankar as the president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee and Digambar Kamat as the Congress Legislature Party leader of Goa .

This comes amid intense infighting in the state Congress. Several party leaders had demanded the removal of Girish Chodankar as the state president. However, in the letter issued by the All India Congress Committee, the party has expressed confidence in Girish Chodankar.

The party has also appointed former minister Alexio Sequeira as the new working president with immediate effect.

MLA and former chief minister Luizinho Falerio has been appointed as the chairperson of the election coordination committee while MK Sheikh has been appointed as the convener.

MLA Reginaldo Lourenco has been appointed as the chairperson of the campaign committee and former minister Sangeetha Parab as its co-chairperson.

Francisco Sardinha, an MP from South Goa, has been appointed as the chairman of the finance committee. Pramoda Salgaocar has been appointed as co-chairman.

Former Union Minister and Advocate Ramakant Khalap have been appointed as the chairperson of the election manifesto committee, while Elvis Gomes, who recently joined the Congress, has been appointed as the co-chairperson.

Chandrakant Chodankar will also oversee the campaign committee while Martha Saldanhahana will be the co-chairperson.
