Gold worth Rs 10.50 lakh stolen from hotel room at Cavelossim

It include cash of Rs 1.50 lakh and gold ornaments amounting to Rs 10.50 lakh.

MARGAO: Gold ornaments and cash totally valued at Rs 10.50 lakh belonging to a tourist from Delhi where stolen by an unidentified culprit who sneaked into his hotel room at Cavelossim.
According to information given by the Colva police, a tourist from Delhi along with his family had arrived in Goa to attend a marriage ceremony of their relative and had checked into a hotel room at Cavelossim.
On Saturday, when they had gone out, an unknown person entered the room and stole cash of Rs 1.50 lakh and gold ornaments such as a gold chain, diamond studded jewellery and other valuables, all amounting to Rs 10.50 lakh.

The Colva police, who are conducting investigations said that it was mandatory to deposit valuables in safe locker as per the rules of hotel.
The police immediately pressed sniffer dog and finger print expert into action but failed to obtain clues. The police also also likely to question hotel staff, security guards and others who were on duty at the time of the theft.
A case has been registered against the unknown person under section 380 of IPC and further investigations are on.
