MARGAO: The popular Konkani monthly Gulab in association with Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust (FFJDCMT), Konkani Bhasha Mandal (KBM), Felicio Cardoso-che Pattlavdar (FCP) and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao will celebrate Konkani Journalism Day at Ravindra Bhavan, Black Box, Margao at 10 am on February 2. As informed by the Editor of 'Gulab', with this they are commemorating the publication of the first Konkani journal UdentEchem Sallok, on February 2, 1889, in Pune by the late Eduardo José Bruno de Souza. There will be a symposium on the topic ‘Why the print media journalism is not vibrant today?’, (Konknni Potrkarita (print media) Aiz ‘Vibrant’ Kiteak Nam?), moderated by the renowned Konkani journalist and litterateur Anil Pai. Experienced and new breed journalists, prof Harishchandra Nagvenkar, Sanjiv Verenkar, Willy Goes, Baban Bhagat, Dattu Naik and Fausto V Da Costa will participate in the symposium. During the programme, tributes will be paid to the pioneers of Konkani journalism and special issue of annual 'Goencho Avaz' will be released.
