Lockdown: Goa sends Shramik trains to Jharkhand, UP

A Shramik Special train departed from Karmali station to Hatia in Jharkhand on Monday, carrying 1,494 migrant labourers who were stranded in the coastal state due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, the official said.

Panaji: A Shramik Special train with 1,494 migrant workers on board has left for Jharkhand from Goa, a senior official said on Tuesday.
A Shramik Special train departed from Karmali station to Hatia in Jharkhand on Monday, carrying 1,494 migrant labourers who were stranded in the coastal state due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown, the official said.
Similarly, another special train carrying 1,484 migrants left Madgaon station for Ballia in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, he said.
All passengers had to undergo thermal screening before boarding the trains to their home states, the official added.
