Seminar on the works of mercy held at Old Goa

Divine Mercy Movement, based at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao in collaboration of St Catherine’s Church (Se Cathedral) Old Goa organised a seminar for the members of the divine mercy groups of Old Goa, Goa Velha and Panaji deaneries at Se Cathedral hall, Old Goa.

OLD GOA: Divine Mercy Movement, based at the Carmelite Monastery, Margao in collaboration of St Catherine’s Church (Se Cathedral) Old Goa organised a seminar for the members of the divine mercy groups of Old Goa, Goa Velha and Panaji deaneries at Se Cathedral hall, Old Goa.

Experiencing the mercy of God and reaching out to the others is our responsibility, said Br Malvino Alfonso. Br Malvino Alfonso, coordinator of the Divine Mercy Movement was the resource person.

He reflected on the different works of mercy taking the help of the scripture and gave practical guidelines to implement them. “Change in attitude is must to see the needs of the other,” he said further. Appealing the Divine Mercy group members to do the works of mercy, he said that it should begin in our families. He called on the members gathered to be faithful to their baptismal call to holiness.

Fr Seby Vaz, assistant to the parish priest of St Catherine’s church, Old Goa welcomed the gathering. He appreciated the efforts of the Carmelites Friars for promoting and animating the Divine Mercy Movement in the Archdiocese.

Dr Shamin Pereira, animator of the Divine Mercy group of St Mathew’s Church, Azossim, led the recitation of the Divine Mercy chaplet. Jacqueline Fernandes of Divine Mercy Group of St Catherine’s Church, expressed her gratitude towards the Carmelite Friars. Fr Macson Dabre, proposed a vote of thanks.

Fr Alfred Vaz, parish priest of St Catherine’s Church, Fr Seby Vaz, assistant and members of the Divine Mercy Group of Old Goa, led by Goretti D’silva along with the Carmelite Friars worked for the success of the half-day seminar.
