As exit polls predict a hung house in Goa Assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday night reached the national capital to meet central leadership and discuss strategy in case of a fractured mandate.

According to sources, Sawant held meetings with BJP central leadership to discuss possible scenarios in case of hung Assembly. The discussion of Sawant and central leadership is focussing on finding out ways to cross the halfway marks in case the BJP fails short of majority.

Speaking to media persons in Delhi, Sawant said that the central BJP leadership is already in talks with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) to seek its support, if the saffron outfit falls short of a few numbers to form government.

He also said even if the party is stuck at 17-18 seats, it would seek help from Independent MLAs to form the government.

"If we are stuck at 17-18, then I feel three to four seats will be won by Independents. Independents tend to support those who are in majority. I am confident of forming the government with Independents," Sawant said.

Sawant is slated to visit Mumbai, where he and state BJP president Sadanand M Shet Tanavade will meet with the BJP's Goa in-charge, Devendra Fadnavis.

The BJP has also dismissed the prediction by several exit polls and has expressed confidence that it will be single-largest and in a position to form government.
