How do we transform the state of Goa? What role do the educators of Goa have in the transformation of Goa? How do we bring together all the stakeholders on a common platform?

Such and many other topics were discussed at the recently-hosted Danik Gomantak: Education Institute Conference 2021. Organised by Sakal Media Group on Tuesday, in Panaji, Goa, the conference was attended by the members of Goan academia and educational community representatives from Pedne to Kankon.

Convened by Abhijit Pawar, Executive Director, Sakal Media Group and President, AP Global-Delivering Change Foundation, the education-centric conference saw esteemed guests who have made their mark in the field of education.

While addressing the guests, Pawar said, “I have to confess, I believe every individual present in this room today that we have invited, all of you collectively represent the most vibrant and influential section of the society.”

The event saw the participation of eminent personalities from Goa. Guests like Bhaskar G Nayak, former director of Higher Education, Laxmikant Yashwant Parsekar, former Chief Minister of Goa, Dr Amita Kendre Kamat, Professor at Goa Dental College, Vinayak Bapat, Professor at Goa University, Bhushan Bhave and Manoj Kamat, among many others, were seen at the event.

Some of the other topics discussed at the conference included what could educators do to increase positive impact in the development of the state and prepare a roadmap for the next five years. Addressing this, Pawar said, “Many governments have come and gone after the liberation of Goa, but questions remain. Now the Gomantakis should decide what they want. That will be the public manifesto. After the liberation of Goa, the people gave the opportunity to many, now the people will help each other, we have to go ahead and find answers to the questions in Goa.”

“Just eight months before the elections, we are going to create a manifesto and whoever comes to power will have to commit to our manifesto. We want all the students, educational institutes and women voters of Goa to unite. Unless we don’t... become one, we won’t get results,” he added.

Speaking at the conference, Pawar also highlighted his passion for transforming the state with the active participation of youth and women leading to social good. He said, “There are more than 2 lakh students above the age of 18 years in the state, and through their active participation the state can be transformed.”

The initiative will be taken forward through both - the Young Inspiration Network (Yin) and the women's Tanishqa platform. This would help develop leadership qualities in students.
