Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said that will host ‘Tika Utsav 3.2” a vaccination festival across Goa to inoculate the maximum population in the age group of 18 to 44 years against COVID-19.
Speaking to the reporters after the cabinet meeting, Sawant said as many as 1 lakh 90 thousand people will take the second dose of the Covid vaccine in the next eight days as their 90- day period after the first dose will to an end.
“Under the program Goa celebrates vaccination, we are going to start a Tika Utsav again in Goa. The first dose has been given to 11,88,891 people in the state so far and this percentage is increasing to 102 per cent. We are going to start the Tika Utsav on 16 September. We will try to vaccinate as many people as we can,” he said.
He also stated that 43 per cent of Goa’s eligible population has been administered the second dose of vaccine.
The state government has held five “Tika Utsavs” in the past involving all panchayats and municipal councils.
Sawant further said that of the ten Covid deaths recorded in Goa in the last week, nine were of persons who had not taken either dose of the vaccine.
PM Modi to congratulate health department on 18 September
PM Modi will congratulate Goa for making significant progress in administering the first dose of vaccines to 100% of the population, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
The Prime Minister will interact with healthcare workers and beneficiaries of the Covid vaccination programme in the state through a video conference, he further said.
