First published in 1947 by August Publication house in Bombay, ‘Action in Goa’ written by Dr Ram Manohar Lohia is now available in Konkani, Marathi and Hindi.
A public ceremony was held at the Ravindra Bhavan in Margao on Tuesday on the occasion of the 54th Death Anniversary of socialist leader and freedom fighter Dr Ram Manohar Lohia,
A reprint of the rare historical book in English was released by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in June this year.
Speaking at the occasion, Damu Naik. President, Ravindra Bhavan said that the ‘Action in Goa’ is a guide for future generations. ”New generation live not in history but in the present. Such books are important to keep them awake. This book will provide information to the youth about every major event in the freedom struggle of Goa,” he said.
The book contains Dr Lohia’s historic speech in Margao, which he could never deliver as he was arrested and also another historic document – An Open Letter to Goans – he had written in December 1946.
The book also contains articles and reports written and published by Mahatma Gandhi in his periodical ‘Harijan’ in support of Lohia’s Goa movement and also his public debate with the then Governor-General of Portuguese India.
