Goa is gearing up to host the Marathi Film Festival later this year. The festival is expected to be held at Kala Academy, Campal, which is currently under renovation. The three-day festival, which is generally held in the last week of June, will showcase released and upcoming Marathi films for the audience.

Organized by Vinsan World, Panjim, the Goa Marathi Film Festival marked its 12-year journey in 2019. Executive Director of Vinsan World, and founder of the Goa Marathi Film Festival, Sanjay Shetye, is currently in Mumbai in connection with arrangements for the upcoming film festival.

Due to the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, the festival had not been held for two consecutive years, i.e. 2020 and 2021, and is now scheduled to be held in August. While the ongoing renovation work of Kala Academy might pose a challenge to the availability of the theater, the work is expected to be complete in August.

Meanwhile, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) was organized virtually in 2020. And, in 2021, it was executed with limited attendance.
