Mandrem block Congress Committee on Monday submitted a statement to Agarwada Electricity Department after frequent disrupted power supply in Arambol, Paliem and Querim Panchayat areas for last eight days, warning of a protest if the situation doesn't improve in coming days.

Congress leader and former education minister Sangeeta Gopal Parab along with State Congress Vice-President Babi Bagkar submitted the statement to electricity department.

'On the day of Diwali, which is known as the festival of light, people had to spend nights in dark. The electricity department should avoid repeating it again,' Parab said.

Another Congress leader Babi Bagkar said the power department cannot avoid the responsibility of providing regular power supply to people by citing technical reasons. "Power supply in the region should be streamlined by creating necessary equipment facilities," he said.

Sachin Parab said,"All panchayats in Mandrem constituency come under Agarwada Power Department. However, Arambol, Paliem and Querim Panchayat are connected to one feeder so power problems in the area are serious."

He demanded that these villages should be brought under Agarwada office.

Meanwhile, Vattu Sawant, Power Engineer of Agarwada office, said that there are instances of power outages due to incessant thundershowers.
