42 goats were mowed down by a Konkan Railway train near a tunnel at Gulem in Canacona on Thursday evening, January 13.
The herdman, Bablo Kavlekar, a resident of Sadolxem in Canacona, had taken his goats to Devbag for herding. "When I did not see some goats in a herd of hundreds of goats, I rushed to the tunnel and saw them dead," Kavlekar has suffered a lose off Rs 4 lakh.
Corporator Dhiraj Naik Gavkar said the owner of flock lost his means of livelihood due the tragic accident.
