Churchill Brothers under pressure to avoid defeat against Aizawl FC in I-League

The current I-League football season has been a disappointing one for former champions Churchill Brothers. A series of defeats and their twelfth position in the standings have put the Goa team under pressure. Against this backdrop, they will be struggling to avoid another defeat against Aizawl FC.

Aizawl FC will face Churchill Brothers in Kalyani, West Bengal on Thursday. The Aizawl team is currently in tune. After losing four matches in a row, the team won the previous two matches and finished eighth with six points. The Churchill Brothers had raised hopes by beating the formidable Mohammedan Sporting after a four-match losing streak but they lost to Rajasthan United in their last match. The two-time I-League champions now have just four points from six matches. They have lost four matches in the tournament.

Churchill Brothers assistant coach Mate Costa is unhappy that the team is not playing well. He said on Wednesday that players need to play at full capacity. Costa is aware that the Churchill Brothers will have an uphill struggle to avoid relegation if they lose to Aizawl today.

Although Aizawl FC has won two matches in a row, coach Yan Law is not ready to underestimate the Churchill Brothers. "The Churchill Brothers are a very strong team and their quality is not proven by their performance. They're not playing bad," Law said.
